How does collaboration with newz.fi work?
We advertise assignments and events that are interesting for the Finnish media, such as newspapers, websites, radio, and TV. Typically, we are looking for journalists or photographers for these events. You create material for us, and we handle trying to sell it further. You get paid only if we successfully sell the material.
Can anyone join your agency?
newz.fi is an option for freelancers who need help finding jobs in the media industry, whether you are a writing journalist, photographer, or have other media-related skills.
Is there a cost to join your agency?
Yes, we have a membership fee that can be paid annually, quarterly, or monthly.
How does accreditation work, do you assist with it?
You can either use our templates to apply yourself or let us handle the entire process. Note that you should never apply for accreditation for an event that we have not approved.
What do I get for each sold image or article?
We follow market prices, which are reviewed annually. If the material is sold to multiple media outlets, our fee is duplicated for each sale.
Do I receive reimbursement for travel and expenses?
No, you only get paid for sold images or article.
Is there a guarantee that I will be paid for every job?
You will only receive payment if we successfully sell the material to our clients.
We cannot guarantee payment for every event. However, in 9 out of 10 cases, the material is sold to clients. It's important to note that a common reason for unsold material is often low quality, so it's crucial that everything is of the highest quality.
How does the process of selling material to media work?
You express your interest in the event. If you are accepted, you will receive a link where you can upload your material, and we take care of the rest.
Do I need to have a press card to join your agency?
No, a press card is not required to join, but it may be necessary for certain events. However, we recommend joining a sports journalist federation and applying for an AIPS press card.
Who owns the rights to the images and articles?
We own all the rights to the images and articles we have purchased from you.
How do I find out about available assignments and events?
When you are logged in, you can see current events in each country that we are interested in. If you are interested, you need to express your interest as spaces are usually limited to one photographer and/or journalist.
How quickly do you need the material after the event?
We need the material at the latest 1 hour after the event, preferably before. For sports events, we prefer direct uploads from the camera or during breaks.
Which countries are you active in?
Currently, we are active in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, and Spain. We plan to expand our operations to more countries.
Can I sell material to other media partners?
Assignments you receive through us are exclusively ours. You are not allowed to sell this material to anyone else.
Do i need to know Finnish to join your agency?
If you are a journalist, it is an advantage to speak Finnish, but for photographers, this is not necessary.
